Mer än 800 miljoner människor lider idag av kronisk undernäring och Sverige har möjlighet att påverka genom att stötta jordbrukssatsningar i de fattiga delarna av världen skriver aktörer inom jordbrukssektorn i GP. Aktörerna välkomnar regeringens ökade satsningar inom området samtidigt som dessa måste ses mot de stora neddragningarna av stödet till jordbuksutveckling som skett under flera år.

Protracted crises are among the most challenging contexts in which to fight food insecurity and malnutrition. Driven by multiple underlying causes such as recurrent natural or human made disasters, weak governance and unsustainable livelihood systems, protracted crises affect an estimated 366 million people worldwide.

2015 is the International Year of Soils and FAO is launching an Instagram contest in order to raise awareness about the importance of soils. Participants are encouraged to share all sorts of photos related to soils, their potential, functions but also their exploitation so as to shed light on a range of different issues.
