Collaboration in Landscapes for Sustainable Development
– Hybrid dialogue with Tony Simons CIFOR-ICRAF who visit Sweden

Hybrid dialogue 27th of April, 13.15-15.30.

KSLA, SIANI, Focali, and SLU invite you to a seminar with Tony Simons, Executive Director, CIFOR-ICRAF, who is visiting Sweden. Tony Simons will share what role Swedish institutions and CIFOR-ICRAF can play to meet the urgent and intertwined challenges the world faces today: the climate, ecosystem, food, and poverty crisis. Swedish actors representing different sectors will share how they strive to tackle the challenges. A discussion will be facilitated on how we can collaborate and invest in landscapes for sustainable development in broad partnerships.

  • Capacity development programs in landscapes: The LoCoFoRest (Locally Controlled Forest Restoration) training programme. A Governance and Market Oriented Approach for Resilient Landscapes.   • Civil society and development actors in landscapes: Bo Lager, Senior Policy Advisor Agriculture, The Swedish Society for Nature Conservation.

  • Private sector actors in landscapes: Mikhail Tarasov, Global Forestry Manager, IKEA of Sweden AB
  • Financing of sustainable landscapes: Duncan Macqueen – Principal researcher and leader (forests), Natural Resources at The International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED)
  • Q&A with private and financial representatives 
  • Panel discussion with speakers and participants 
  • In concluding reflection, Elisabeth Simelton, Senior Policy Specialist Agriculture Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), Climate Change Scientist previously at ICRAF Vietnam and member of the Focali research network.
