Agriculture and Rural Development Day (ARDD) at Rio+20

This 9th learning event at the ARDD showcased the value wise crop choices for more nutritious food as well as the value of nutrient cycling in crop production. Using case studies from Niger and the Philippines the ‘case to scale’ effect different parts of the loop were demonstrated.

Objectives

  1. Communicate the need to include human excreta management when striving to close the loop on valuable nutrients (Recommendation 6)
  2. Illustrate methodologies and necessary tools to enable scaling up from pilot project to regional and national implementation. (Recommendation 7)
