COVID-19 took a tight grip on our food systems, and Eastern Africa is not an exception. Responding to the health crisis, governments imposed curfews and lockdowns, which disrupted agricultural supply chains, blocking farmers’ access to markets and cutting their supplies of fertilizers and seeds short. Many processors had to stop their operations too.
However, every cloud has a silver lining. The pandemic forced farmers, food companies and service provides to think differently and accelerated the use of digital solutions for learning, sales and beyond.
