Powering Agriculture – An Energy Grand Challenge for Development Calls for Application

Powering Agriculture – An Energy Grand Challenge for Development, PAEGC, has launched its second Global Innovation Call. The Call opens at the 8th of December 2014, and the deadline for concept notes is 12th of February 2015.

Sida collaborates with USAID, The United States Agency for International Development, Duke Energy Corporation, the Government of Germany, and OPIC, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation in the effort to find new innovative clean energy solutions for the agriculture in developing countries.

This second Global Innovation Call for Powering Agriculture is an opportunity for any organization, company or institution that is working at the intersection of clean energy and agriculture. The founding partners grant funding for innovative clean energy solutions that increase agricultural productivity and/or incomes derived from agriculture in developing countries.

PAEGC supports new and sustainable approaches to accelerate the development and deployment of Clean Energy Solutions that increase agriculture productivity and /or value in developing countries.

PAEGC’s second Global Innovation Call will issue individual awards ranging from $500,000 to $2,000,000 USD for Clean Energy Solutions that are:

  1. at the early stages of research and development to refine/improve the design of the technology, establish proof of concept, pilot field tests, and adapt technologies/business models to new markets or;
  2. at the later stage of product/business model development to assist with expansion to commercial scale.
