Swedish International Agriculture Network Initiative, SIANI is a network with a worldwide membership of more than 3500 people and growing! Headquartered in Sweden, SIANI’s work is dedicated to sustainable agricultural development and a more food secure future for all. We operate in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with a particular focus on SDG 2: Zero Hunger.
Our mission is to generate and facilitate inclusive and engaging public discussion around SDG 2, with participation from academia, the private sector, public authorities, and civil society.
SIANI seeks to generate impact by:
- creating opportunities for evidence-based, gender-balanced dialogues
- making knowledge available for informed decision-making in local, national and international arenas, and
- facilitating cross-sector, multi-stakeholder, joint action.
SIANI has become a facilitator of choice for anyone who works with and is interested in sustainable agriculture, food security and nutrition, particularly in low and middle-income countries.
Our Steering Committee provides input, support and over-all direction of the development of the network and its initiatives. It is a mechanism for approving annual work plans and annual reports prepared by the Secretariat in collaboration with the members and partners. The Steering Committee is reflective of the SIANI members and is composed of the experts positioned within government, private sector, academia, civil society and international organizations working in the field of food security and sustainable agriculture.
We are currently open for nominations for new members of the Steering Committee with the intention to start in spring 2020. The Committee consists of a total of ten members on the and each of them serves for a period of three years with a possibility of renewal.
