Young researchers meeting on multifunctional landscapes

Welcome to this SIANI, SLU Global and Focali joint event on Multifunctional landscapes for food security, livelihoods and the environment!

Are you a young researcher, PhD student, post-doc or in the beginning of your research carrier? Are you focusing your work on how landscapes are used in an integrated way? Welcome to our young researchers meeting in Gothenburg 7-8 June and discuss with likeminded.  

At the meeting there will also be a multidisciplinary group of senior scientists present that have vast experiences on the topic, and that will be able to give feedback to you on manuscripts and/or formulated approaches. We hope to attract researchers from all disciplines. The workshop is organised around three sub – themes:

1. Intensification in multifunctional landscapes – possibilities and contradictions? Anders Malmer, SLU. Keywords: land degradation, climate adaptation, value chains, demand, restoration, agroforestry, water, fertilizers, pesticides.
2. Planning in multifunctional landscapes – factors and actors? Per Knutsson, University of Gothenburg. Keywords: private, common, tenure, governance, subsidies, markets, WTO, infrastructure, monitoring, farmers, extension services
3. Triple win in multifunctional landscapes – climate smart, sustainable and profitable – is it possible? Thilde Bech Bruun, University of Copenhagen.   Keywords: climate change, system analysis, green house gas emissions, innovations, carbon stocks, nutrients, agroforestry, climate policy, risks, adaptation, resilience.

Venue: 

The young researchers meeting will be held at “Annedalseminariet”, Seminariegatan 1A at the GU – Campus Linné, not far from tram stop “Linnéplatsen” in Gothenburg. 1A is the big yellow building with a park in the front of the building (see image and map here: http://kartor.eniro.se/m/Paq2w)

Registration and lunch the first day: In the aula on the top floor (elevator available by the left entrance).

Rest of meeting: Room 403 and group rooms 404, 406, 408

Abstract submission

Submit your abstract to Margarita.Cuadra@slu.se before May 13 2016, indicating which sub-theme you would like to focus on.

If your abstract is selected, your travel (within Sweden) and stay in Gothenburg for the workshop could be financed. 

Format for abstract submission:

  • Limit your text to 300 words
  • Single spacing
  • Font: Times New Roman 12 points
  • Include a Title for your abstract
  • Send your text in a Word or .doc file
  • Include authors and their affiliation. Underline presenter name and include contact information
  • Please do not capitalize the letters in the title or authors, use sentence format.
  • Avoid using bold letters unless necessary
