The Stockholm High-Level Meeting on addressing the humanitarian impact of climate change

The Government of Sweden is co-hosting a meeting about the consequences of climate change on the smallest.

The Government of Sweden, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and the World Food Programme (WFP) are pleased to invite you to a High-Level Meeting on Addressing the Humanitarian Impact of Climate Change. The meeting is organised in collaboration with the Swedish Red Cross.

The meeting will be held in a virtual hybrid format with some of the high-level participants physically present in Stockholm and some attending virtually. The meeting will be broadcasted so the virtual format will allow a broad range of participants, a large audience is thus very much welcome.

Opening remarks will be given by

  • Mr. Peter Eriksson, Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation
  • Mr. David Beasley, Executive Director, WFP
  • Ms. Mami Mizutori, Special Representative of the Secretary-General, UNDRR.

The high-level meeting will include two panels. The first panel will focus on food insecurity as a consequence of climate change, with examples from the Horn of Africa. The second panel will focus on solutions and how to reduce and anticipate risk.

Mr. Maarten van Aalst, Director of the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, will be the moderator for this event.
