SEARCA, AFA, UNESCO, CIRAD, and GRET: Virtual Regional Consultation on Engaging with Academia and Research Institutions (ARIs)

Webinar to discover how Academia and Research Institutions (ARIs) in Asia can further contribute, in particular through Agroecology, to enhance the livelihoods of family farmers and developing their capacities to cope with increasing uncertainty caused by current shocks.

SEARCA, AFA, UNESCO, CIRAD, and GRET are organizing, with the technical assistance of the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, a virtual regional consultation bringing together representatives of universities, family farmers’ organizations, agricultural research institutions, government agencies, and development partners, to explore how Academia and Research Institutions (ARIs) in Asia can further contribute, in particular through Agroecology, to enhance the livelihoods of family farmers and developing their capacities to cope with increasing uncertainty caused by current shocks.

This regional event aims at bringing together representatives of universities, family farmer’s organizations, agricultural research institutions, government agencies, and development partners to explore how Academia and Research Institutions (ARIs) in Asia can further contribute, in particular through Agroecology, to enhancing the livelihoods of family farmers and developing their capacities to cope with increasing uncertainty caused by current shocks.

Prior to this event, a Call for Communications was launched between July 2021 inviting relevant Academia and Research Institutions to submit experiences in supporting rural transformation, farmers’ organizations, and agroecology mainstreaming with the view of building back greener and more resilient. A total of 24 initiatives were selected and will be presented during the parallel sessions. This stock-taking is important in developing future programs that will support the better inclusion of agroecology in curriculum and research programs.

Find HERE the detailed agenda, with the ZOOM LINKS for Day 1 and Day 2 parallel sessions You may also visit the SEARCA website (www.searca.org)  or AFA’s website (www.asianfarmers.org) to see the full agenda.
