Agri4D, which stands for Agriculture for Development, is arranged every second year by SLU Global and SIANI with the support of Sida. The conference this year is taking place onsite in Uppsala with some sessions broadcasted online. It is open for everyone to participate and registration to participate online is still open. The conference is free of charge.
The world is facing major challenges in achieving the SDGs by 2030. The importance of food systems is central. The Agri4D conference is a creative meeting place for actors working for a sustainable future. This year’s theme is ”Nurturing regenerative food systems in a changing climate”.
On 23-25 September, the conference Agri4D 2025 will take place at SLU in Uppsala and online. More than 400 people from several different countries are registered to attend. The participants are researchers, politicians, practitioners, financiers and other stakeholders. For three days, they can choose from up to 31 sessions and lectures about the development of sustainable food systems in low-income contexts.
”After 15 years, Agri4D conference has developed a culture of inclusivity, embracing diverse contributions, and fostering cross-sector, intergenerational collaboration. We have learnt that we can all contribute to the transformation towards food systems that not only nourish people but withstand future shocks within the planetary boundaries. The path forward demands innovation, knowledge, collaboration and above all—shared responsibilities.”
Madeleine Fogde, SIANI Programme Director
“To ensure that global food systems become more sustainable and capable of providing sufficient and nutritious food for all, significant changes are essential. A clear systems perspective is needed—one that integrates social, economic, and environmental factors—and addresses both production and consumption at local, national, and global levels. Agri4D serves as a platform to share current knowledge and foster new collaborations.”
Ylva Hillbur, Pro Vice-Chancellor for international relations, SLU.
The theme for the conference 2025 will be ”Nurturing regenerative food systems in a changing climate” with three specific sub-themes:
1. Empowering the Next Generation of Food Systems Leaders
2. Transforming Food Systems: Innovation and Implementation
3. Equity, Justice, and Resilience
The sub-themes are tentative and might be adjusted.
