The headquarters of the FAO in Rome will host the twenty-sixth session of the Committee on Forestry. The event will delve into how forest solutions can combat climate change and create a more sustainable and equitable future.

In light of the Glasgow Leaders’ Declaration on Forests and Land Use, the session will examine the FAO’s 2022 edition of the report: The State of the World’s Forests. The report reviews three potential pathways of reaching the pledge set by 140 countries to eliminate forest loss by 2030. The session will also discuss the fallout of the XV World Forestry Congress held in Seoul, Korea this May.

The new FAO Strategic Framework for 2022-2031 will also be presented. In support of the 2030 Agenda, FAO has the goal of transforming present agricultural practices to more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable food system. This will in turn create better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life within the central promise of the 2030 agenda to Leave No One Behind.
