SIANI Youth was very active in the month of May starting off with a workshop on Youth, Agripreneurship and the Sustainable Development Goals, co-organised with SLU Global. In the morning inspirational speakers talked about business opportunities and how to overcome challenges for entrepreneurs in agirculture. Great discussions took place in the afternoon session with people coming from the private sector, universities, NGOs and the policy sector. The next day SIANI Youth then headed off to Gothenburg to join up with Focali and SDSN Youth at the “Älska skog” (“Love forest”) event arranged at Universeum. The goal of this event was to raise awareness about the Swedish forest as a natural resource and to create a positive interest among the youth. SIANI Youth, Focali and SDSN Youth had prepared by bringing a big tree poster and a sign with the Sustainable Development Goals. Children from primary and secondary school presented their creative ideas about the benefits of trees and learned more about the Goals. Check out our Instagram post from the event.
Lastly, during Stockholm University’s Climate Festival (“Klimatfestivalen”) we were invited to inspire and share learnings on food and climate with high school students. The Climate Festival aspires to offer more opportunities for junior students to meet climate scientists and playfully learn about climate change. Our intern Rebecca Hymnelius & other members of the SIANI team met with lots of young students who were eager to hear more about Agenda 2030 and the future of food. Also, by taking our exciting sustainability quiz, visitors got the chance to taste toasted grasshoppers (a great delicacy in several parts of the world!). Here’s an Instagram post from Klimatfestivalen.
This spring was a lot of fun for SIANI Youth! We hope that we have inspired young people to learn and do more for sustainable food and agriculture!
