SLU students investigate a coffee pest in Uganda

Three students are currently doing a minor field study (MFS) in Uganda, investigating how the coffee black twig borer can be controlled without cutting down trees.

Julia Dahlqvist, Christina Hultman and Lina Wu, all students at SLU, are together investigating an insect pest that can heavily reduce coffee bean production. This pest, the coffee black twig borer bores through the twigs and branches which dry out as a result and no coffee berries are produced. In severe cases, the entire tree can die.
