Promise of Commons invites community stewards, researchers, and practitioners to submit abstracts for the Community Conference on Commons, held during World Commons Week 2025. This online global event celebrates the power of communities in conserving and governing shared natural resources — the Commons.
This year’s theme — “Commons and Pastoral Systems” — marks the lead-up to the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralism (IYRP) 2026, offering a platform to showcase experiences from pastoral communities and extensive livestock systems. All regional IYRP groups are encouraged to participate.
Through stories and conversations, participants learn from one another’s challenges and successes in protecting shared resources.
Submit your abstract and join a global dialogue bringing together farmers, forest dwellers, pastoralists, women’s collectives, youth groups, and their allies. Together, we can strengthen the stewardship of the Commons and inspire collective action for a sustainable future. One of the thematic areas for case studies presentations is Commons for Food Security, Subsistence, and Wellbeing.
Conference Format:
-
10-minute community presentation (in any language)
-
5-minute summary/translation in English by facilitator
-
Total time: 15 minutes per session
**The abstract submission deadline is going to be extended till end of October 2025.
