Call for Contributions: Pastoralism and Agroecology

Rooted Magazin

To mark 2026 as the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists, Rooted Magazine will prepare a special issue in collaboration with the World Alliance of Mobile Indigenous Peoples (WAMIP).

For the September 2026 issue, Rooted Magazine is seeking experiences and perspectives that centre pastoralist and mobile Indigenous voices, knowledge systems and struggles as lived, political, creative practices.

Today, nomadic and transhumant pastoralism supports an estimated 100–200 million people –living around the world in landscapes ranging from tundras to deserts.

They safeguard a major part of the world’s livestock genetic resources and have provided stable livelihoods for generations.

Pastoralist communities are not remnants of the past. Around the world, they are resisting threats, and devising strategies that offer promises for a thriving future.

Rooted Magazin invites you to submit stories, reflections and insights from real experiences that explore the intersections of pastoralism and agroecology. Whether you are working on the ground or engaging in policy work, we welcome your submission.

You can submit a summary of your proposed contribution in English, Spanish, French or Portuguese.
