The event is co-organised by Université Laval’s Graduate School of International Studies (ESEI), the Quebec government’s ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie (MRIF), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity.

Agricultural stakeholders have always played, and will continue to play, a key role in the protection and sustainable management of biodiversity. However, this contribution is often misunderstood, neglected, or, in some cases, left out of national or international processes. This Symposium aims to highlight agriculture as a source of solutions to biodiversity-related challenges and will seek to promote and facilitate the collective commitment of all agricultural stakeholders to the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the transformation of agrifood systems.
