TapTalk organises a hybrid seminar about the UN and WFP’s work in the Sahel region of Africa – where desert becomes forest and local communities create opportunities for self-sufficiency. Directly via link from Niger, we will see and hear how it works, and why this project is one of the most hopeful climate solutions of our time. Andrew Millison and Volli Carucci (WFP) share lessons from practice and documentation, followed by live audience Q&A.
- Andrew Millison – Educator and founder of Oregon State University’s Permaculture Design program. He documents land regeneration on his YouTube channel (100M+ views).
- Volli Carucci (WFP) – Agronomist and former lead of major UN programmes on landscape restoration and resilience, with 30+ years of experience in dryland regions.
Moderators (in Stockholm)
Astrid Johnsson Brynolf, together with Martin Hedberg (meteorologist and climate risk specialist).
Discussion topics
- What makes this work successful?
- What can other regions learn from the Sahel?
- How do we create hope that turns into real action?
