The 2015 Paris Climate Conference, COP21, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development provided the context for the third Annual SIANI meeting, where the SDGs in particular became the recurring theme in many presentations and discussions.

SIANI is currently being evaluated by an evaluation team consisting of  Bo Tengnäs , Mats Denninger and Anna Tengnäs. The purpose is to evaluate the ongoing SIANI 2 and assist the secretariat and the steering committee to outline the next phase of the SIANI network development.

This expert group aims to establish a network linking the international and the national Swedish resource bases for agriculture and development.

The SIANI African Biochar Expert Group meeting in Potsdam the 27th to 30th of May was a huge success.

Over 60 people connected to food security, agriculture and sustainable development gathered in Stockholm on the 21st of January for SIANI Annual Meeting.  The event marked the beginning of the next phase in the network development and was organized to gather opinion of the public on the future of the SIANI development.
