On the 22nd of April, the SIANI expert group on “Food Waste Prevention Strategies for Global Food Chains” arranged a workshop to discuss good examples and possible solutions to reduce food waste on a global scale with a whole value chain perspective in mind.
During a recent G20 meeting in Istanbul, FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva praised the agricultural ministers of the member countries for making commitments to reduce food waste and promote sustainable food systems.
Apart from attending the important sessions and side events, SIANI also organized a side event in collaboration with the Swedish Ministry of Rural Affairs and Sida. The side event aimed at showcasing the Sweden´s holistic approach to reducing food waste and losses across scales and along the value chain.
