För närvarande lever ungefär 50% av världens djurpopulationer i städer och andelen förväntas växa till nästan 70% år 2050. Det finns därför en marknadsmöjlighet för fattiga i urban miljö att arbeta med djurhållning inom städer.
Gruppens övergripande mål är att utveckla och erbjuda kunskap om för- och nackdelarna med djurhållning i städer och förorter i låginkomstländer och kommunicera denna kunskap till beslutsfattare vid olika nivåer och sektorer.
