The theme of the day is “Soils, Land Use, and Climate Change”. World Soil Day was initiated by the UN in 2014 and is held annually on 5 December. The aim is to focus attention on the importance of healthy soil and advocating for the sustainable management of soil resources.
The program includes inspiring talks about the soil quality status and trends in Swedish soils, international perspectives on climate change and land use, climate-smart management options and effects of urbanization on soil resources.
Recent research at the Department of Soil and Environment at SLU will be presented in a poster session, and all participants are welcome to contribute with a poster. The final panel discussion will highlight important aspects of conflicts in land use planning.
