The 14th Annual Meeting of the Environment for Development Initiative

Join the largest annual conference on the application of environmental economics to development in the Global South.

The Environment for Development (EfD) School of Business, Economic and Law from the University of Gothenburg is organising its annual congress as an online one-week event.

EfD is a global network of environmental economics research centers solving the world’s most pressing environmental and development challenges. It contributes to effective management of the environment in the Global South through policy-relevant research, capacity development and policy engagement.

EfD was established 2007 and today, the network consists of over 200 accomplished environmental economists based in the Global South, with many different specializations. EfD centers are hosted by leading local academic research institutions in 15 countries across the world: in Chile, China, Colombia, Central America, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Kenya, Nigeria, Sweden, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, USA and Vietnam.

EfD’s vision

Inclusive sustainable development in the Global South founded on evidence-based management of the environment, natural resources, and climate change impacts.

EfD’s overarching objective  

EfD contributes to evidence-based domestic and international policies for poverty reduction, environmental and resource management, and climate change impacts in the Global South through integrated capacity development, research and policy engagement.
