Planning in the context of weak planning institutions and lack of resources for implementation – the case of Sacaba

Research by PhD researcher Paola Ledo from the Department of Urban and Rural Development, SLU

This picture taken just after a collaborative planning workshop in Sacaba Municipality, Cochabamba Department in Bolivia. The workshop is part of the PhD project by Paola Ledo, SLU’s Department of Urban and Rural Development. Paola is in blue near the middle of the picture, along with community leaders, members of Paola’s facilitation team and the two Swedish supervisors: Nadarajah Sriskandarajah and Rolf Johansson. The title of her PhD project is: Planning in the context of weak planning institutions and lack of resources for implementation – the case of Sacaba. Paola’s methodology includes cycles of workshops with community members and leaders along with municipal planners and technicians.
