About SIANI
SIANI's mission is to foster a Swedish response to the 21st century's crucial need for agricultural development strategies that ensure global food security and sustainable production.
SIANI is a multi stakeholder platform for government, civil society, private, research and education sectors to lay the foundation for collective action on concrete, urgent issues in development cooperation in which agriculture plays a vital role. It is a network initiative aiming to provide a long term form of institutional cooperation and support for Swedish actors.
The network aims to contribute to the implementation of Sweden's Global Development Policy (PGD) in the field of agriculture, contributing to coordination of policy and practice across sectors for equitable and sustainable agricultural development.
It aims to build on a diversity of national and international stakeholder perspectives; bridging between research, practice and policy, so that controversial issues are addressed in a systemic and integrated manner. SIANI will enable dialogue and exchange between communities of practice with a stake in agriculture and development and organize issue based clusters, dialogues, and strategic initiatives; to synthesise and share understanding.
Six Key Functions have been formulated to guide the network.
